The Dead Sea is just 10-times denser.Soaking in this natural wonder isn’t the only serene activity on this afternoon excursion – you’ll be treated to a wonderfully relaxing spa treatment in the Salinas spa centre before you brave the salty waters. Bring a towel, though – you’re going to want to shower all that salt off you before returning to Santa Maria.

Forbidden Sydney guided walking tour

Sydney is one of the world’s great gay and lesbian cities — with plenty of stories waiting for you to uncover. Walking and food tasting tour of Sydney

This food and drink tour of Sydney will give you a taste of what the city has to offer: over the course of the evening, in a small group, you will visit three different small bars, all tucked away in basements, back alleys, old horse-cart carriageways, loading docks, and other hard-to-find corners. We’ll spend about 45 minutes in each venue, giving you plenty of time to sample some snacks and/or enjoy a drink and it’s rarely the same thing twice! We might be treated to speciality pizza one time or tapas or dumplings another time, washed down with maybe a glass of mulled wine in winter or sangria in summer. Come with an open mind for whatever’s placed in front of you! In between stops, you’ll be guided along some of Sydney’s most interesting streets, where you can discover other venues, see fantastic street art, spy intriguing spaces, and learn where the locals really go after work hours. We’ll start our tour at the glass dome in Wynyard Park and end in the Kent Street area, after three hours of exploring the city centre via the nooks and crannies hidden away in downtown Sydney.

One of the first settlements founded by the Spanish conquerors, Taganana is also one of the most remote and isolated villages in Tenerife. It’s one of three must-visit locations, along with Candelaria and the Anaga Country Park, in this scenery-rich excursion to the northeast of the island. This is one of our TUI Collection excursions, which give you a local flavour of the destination while showcasing its unique, authentic and responsible values.

Up until the 60s, the fishing village of Taganana, where sugarcube house cascade down towards the ocean, was only accessible on foot or by boat. These days, a winding coastal road connects it to the rest of the island. Next up is Candelaria, the religious centre of Tenerife – its waterfront basilica can hold 5,000 faithful – for a spot of sightseeing.

We’ll continue up the coastal road towards the whitewashed village of Taganana and a lunch of regional delicacies in an authentic, traditional restaurant. In the afternoon, you’ll drive through the mountains to the Anaga Country Park with its deep ravines and forests, some of the oldest in Europe, which date back to the Iron Age.

La Gomera – from the North

Marooned off the southwest coast of Tenerife, the tiny island of La Gomera has a lost-in-time feel. Away from the tourist trail, it’s totally unspoilt – think jagged ravines, terraced white villages and pristine forests.

The deep valleys of Gomera’s UNESCO-protected Garajonay National Park are home to rare plants, unique to the island. After taking in jaw-dropping scenery, it’s on to the historic capital, San Sebastian. Crammed with pastel-coloured houses, this pretty place is knee-deep in history – Columbus sailed from here on his 1492 voyage of discovery.

Also on the agenda is an included Gomeran meal at a quaint country restaurant plus a demonstration of local ‘silbo’ whistling, which islanders have used for centuries to send messages across the vast ravines.

Guided walking tour in Tokyo – Japan’s cultural curiosities

Start off at Ningyocho, a district known for its old traditions and, as you’ll discover right away, tasty treats. That’s because the smell of cinnamon will lead us to our first stop, a shop that specializes in Japanese sweets.

Next up, we’ll stop at an incense store that dates back to 1705, where we’ll learn about Kōdō, the art of appreciating incense and the traditional Japanese incense ceremony.

Hungry? Good! We’ll stop at a snack shop from the Showa Era that carries treats popular in the early 20th century, including candies, caramels, Ramune soda, fish jerky, and bean paste snacks, to name a few.

We’ll then cross the street to a shamisen shop, and learn a bit about this traditional Japanese musical string instrument. From there, we’ll head to a local tenugui shop, where they sell woven hand towels depicting Japanese scenes.

Next you’ll go to one of the eight temples in Ningyocho. You’ll visit a shrine where virtue, longevity, learning, and wealth are worshipped. You can offer a prayer here, and wash a coin to ensure a prosperous life.

Once you’ve exhausted Ningyocho, you’ll visit another nearby neighbourhood, Nihonbashi. The district of Nihonbashi was a hub for merchants during the Edo period.

Visit a seaweed shop, as well as an old-fashioned stationery shop that was established in 1946. You’ll get to browse through the display of calligraphy brushes, inks, traditional paints, handmade greeting cards, and little dolls.

The tour will finish at the Nihonbashi information centre, where we will get to taste a few more traditional Japanese sweets before saying sayōnara.

1400-year history exploration tour in Asakusa

While bus tours are very handy in terms of efficiently covering a large area in a short time, this tour is for those who want to visit or revisit an area of particular interest to get to know much more about it. Therefore, the tour is designed to cater only six guests or less so the guide is able to communicate with each guest firsthand, and visitors have the chance to ask all their questions. Especially since things taken for granted by Japanese are very often new to tourists.
The itinerary starts at the meeting point at the Azumabashi bridge. After viewing Tokyo Sky Tree and Sumida river, the visit will continue at the Culture Center. You may have a preview of the tour by overlooking Asakusa from high up the building designed by a well-known Japanese architect. You will then head to Sensoji temple, Tokio’s essential sightseeing spot, but you will also be sight-touching, tasting and learning the history and secrets of the ancient place while participating in the shrine-visiting rituals that Japanese people know. You will enjoy drawing a paper fortune, and then you will detour into the quiet back streets to pick up some freshly-made ‘melon pan’ sweet bread.
Afterward, the tour will continue to the ‘Rokku’ area, it is Asakusa’s traditional entertainment area, always busy and bustling with life. Take your chance to walk through the Meiji period (1868-1912) towards the present day, with stops along the way for more Japanese sweet snacks. The district of endless novelty, between movies, comedians, and exotic animals, transformed in a quaint neighborhood of handicrafts and nostalgia.

It accounted, for the dynasty and the Kingdom, the symbol of their power and the place of the great court events: lunches, dances and diplomatic meetings that have marked both Italian and International history. The path winds through the different rooms to find decorations, furnishings, beautiful oriental porcelain, but also the use and the hidden meaning of small or large objects.

The path includes the view Royal Armory, one of the richest collections of arms and armor in the world. The visit also allows to admire the splendid archaeological weapons of Beaumont Gallery, medieval weapons, bladed weapons and firearms, to the weapons used by the Savoy kings in the nineteenth century, surrounded by valuable armor of the fifteenth and sixteenth century, in a fascinating setting.

Merenda Reale® 1800 at Gelateria Pepino

Take part in Merenda Reale® (royal snack), a delicious and original way of traveling back to the golden age when Torino’s cafés were places of culture, politics and sociability. The snack will be served at Gelateria Pepino – where the famous Pinguino® was invented and patented in 1939 – in an environment whose architectural features evoke the atmosphere of a 19th-century café.

In the 19th century, thanks to its sophisticated confectionery, Turin had earned the reputation as the ‘capital of flavor’ throughout Europe, as it was dotted by a constellation of pastry shops and meeting places. Even the Royals did not refrain from venturing out of the Palace to take a stroll under the arcades of Via di Po and savor a ‘bicerin’ – a beverage made with coffee, fior di latte, and hot chocolate – which then became a morning ritual. Many delicious delicacies were created after the eighteenth century: ‘chifel’, a variation on the Viennese croissant; ‘foré’, a kind of bagel; ‘bicciolano di Vercelli’; a shortcrust ‘brioss’; ‘parisien’, the so-called ‘democratic’ bread… In the Risorgimento period, ‘garibaldin’ (a slice of simple buttered bread) and ‘garibaldi’ (a biscuit made of shortbread with raisins and apricot jam) became very fashionable. Finally, brand new hazelnut-based specialties were created in the second half of the century: Chivasso ‘noaset’ (‘nocciolini’), ‘cri-cri’, ‘givu’, and the hazelnut chocolate that would come to be known as Gianduiotto.

The menu includes 2 courses:

  • ‘Bicerin’ with the three ‘stisse’ (three ingredients: chocolate, milk cream, and coffee) accompanied by a selection of ‘bagnati’ (biscuits to dip)
  • A plate with Chivasso ‘noaset’ (nocciolini) and other chocolate specialties (2 Gianduiottis, ‘cri-cri’ and more)
